On Sunday, 6 September 2026, Rotarians from across Akwa Ibom State gathered at St. Nath Hotel, Ikot Ekpene, for the 2026 Unity Fellowship, themed “Reconnecting for Lasting Impact.”
Members of the Rotary Club of Uyo Metropolis joined Rotarians from other clubs across the state for an afternoon of fellowship, friendship and connection.
But the gathering was about more than reconnecting.
It also showed what Rotary clubs can achieve when they combine their efforts around a shared community need.
Coming Together for Education
As part of the Unity Fellowship, Rotary Clubs across Akwa Ibom carried out a joint educational project to support students preparing for the National Examinations Council (NECO) examinations.
The project provided free NECO registration for six students from two schools, with three students benefiting from each school.
The support was presented through cheques and cash prizes to the beneficiaries during the fellowship.
For the students and their families, the assistance helped remove one of the financial barriers that can stand between young people and their education.
For the participating Rotary clubs, it was also a practical demonstration of the value of working together.
Reconnecting for Lasting Impact
The theme of the fellowship, “Reconnecting for Lasting Impact,” was reflected in the day’s activities.
Rotarians came together not only to strengthen relationships but also to turn that connection into service. By combining their resources and efforts, the clubs were able to support students and contribute to their educational journey.
The project also aligns with Rotary’s commitment to Basic Education and Literacy, an area that remains important to the development of children and young people.
From the fellowship hall in Ikot Ekpene to the students who received educational support, the 2026 Unity Fellowship showed that when Rotary comes together with a shared purpose, fellowship can become a pathway to meaningful community impact.
