A birthday celebration became an opportunity for meaningful service in Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area as Rtn. Gbaa Charity Dooshima, CEO of CHACHA Farms, partnered with the Rotary Club of Uyo Metropolis to bring “Cake with Purpose: Turning Celebration into Impact” to life.
Built around three simple but important pillars, Health, Humanity and Hunger, the initiative went beyond celebrating a special day. It created an opportunity to support beneficiaries, provide essential food items and remind members of the community that they are valued.
Health, Humanity and Hunger
At the heart of Cake with Purpose is the understanding that community wellbeing goes beyond medical care alone.
Health means creating environments where people can live healthier and with greater dignity.
Humanity means recognising the person behind every need and responding with compassion, respect and genuine connection.
Hunger means addressing one of the most basic needs of any household – access to food.
Through the project, Rtn. Charity and the Rotary Club of Uyo Metropolis provided beneficiaries with foodstuff, including bags of rice, beans, oil, seasoning and other essential food items, offering practical support that could make a difference in their homes.
A Day Filled with Joy
But Cake with Purpose was not only about what was given. It was also about how the beneficiaries felt.
The day brought together members of the Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Council, Rotarians and beneficiaries for an atmosphere filled with laughter, games and fellowship.
The mothers especially embraced the fun-filled activities, participating in games and playful moments that allowed them to relax, laugh and enjoy themselves.
For a few hours, the focus was simply on happiness, connection and celebrating life.
Then came the presentation of the food packages.
The excitement and gratitude were unmistakable. The beneficiaries received their gifts with heartfelt appreciation, prayers and kind words for Rtn. Charity, the Rotary Club of Uyo Metropolis and everyone who contributed to making the outreach possible.
Their prayers became one of the most touching moments of the day.
From Celebration to Service
For Rtn. Charity, the experience offered a different way to celebrate a birthday.
Rather than making the day solely about receiving, she chose to make it about giving. Together with the Rotary Club of Uyo Metropolis, her celebration became an opportunity to touch lives and respond to real needs within a community.
That is what made the day particularly meaningful.
The presence and support of the Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Council also strengthened the project, demonstrating the value of collaboration between community leadership and service organisations.

Rotarians came out in numbers to support the initiative, celebrate with the beneficiaries and share in the joy of the occasion.
