The Rotary Club of Uyo Metropolis held an intensive training on Infant Resuscitation and the effective use of donated medical equipment on Saturday, 1 August 2026, at Um-Neak Hotel, Osongama.
The training brought together 20 healthcare professionals, with two participants selected from each of the ten Local Government Areas and Primary Healthcare Centres reached during the club’s Project 10/10 Maternal and Child Health Initiative 2.0.
Participants received practical knowledge on how to respond during newborn emergencies and how to properly use the medical equipment donated to their respective health facilities.
The training was organised to ensure that the equipment provided during the project would be used effectively by skilled and confident healthcare workers. By strengthening their ability to act quickly during critical moments, the initiative will help improve the chances of survival for newborns and support better maternal and child healthcare services.
The session marked the final phase of Project 10/10, which reached ten Local Government Areas, equipped ten Primary Healthcare Centres and strengthened the capacity of healthcare professionals across Akwa Ibom State.
Although the project activities have ended, its impact will continue in delivery rooms, maternity wards and Primary Healthcare Centres where trained healthcare workers can apply their knowledge to save lives.
